The Creative Process Behind [Name TBD] – Part One

For me, creating a book always begins with a name that embodies its essence. But this time, I’ve embraced a “fearless” approach, letting the name take shape as I focus on planning my own fitness and well-being for 2025. My guiding word for the year is influencing not only my personal goals but also the structure of this book. Read how I selected my guiding word here: Fearless: My Guiding Word for 2025. Over the next few weeks, I will share my creative process in designing and creating a journal – starting with step one…

Step 1: Fearlessly Brain-Dumping Goals
I began with a bold, no-holds-barred brain dump of everything I want to accomplish in 2025. This included:
- Fitness – Redefining my physical and mental limits with the courage to push through barriers.
- Learning – Tackling new challenges without hesitation, whether they’re technical skills, creative pursuits, or personal growth areas.
- Journaling Business – Expanding my reach and stepping into community leadership with confidence.
By approaching this step fearlessly, I allowed myself to dream big and confront both my desires and doubts on paper.
Digging into the goals:
Fitness Goals: Fearlessly Kicking Higher
Preparing for my 2nd Dan in karate is a key part of my 2025 fitness plan. This isn’t just about maintaining the status quo—it’s about fearlessly stepping up my physical capabilities in ways I haven’t attempted in years.
- Karate Training: I’ll stick to twice-weekly classes, refining my techniques and pushing through challenges.
- Flexibility Work: Let’s face it, I haven’t touched my toes since I was 19. To get those head-height kicks, I’ll add focused daily flexibility sessions. The twist? I’ll do these while enjoying TV, proving we don’t have to sacrifice everything we enjoy.
- Strength Training: Strength is critical for both karate and overall health. I’ll build strength using the Wii Fit three times a week, with plans to add resistance training for an extra challenge.
- Nature Walks: I’ll keep enjoying walks in the woods with Ostara, embracing the peace and balance that comes from moving mindfully through nature.
Learning: Fearlessly Expanding Knowledge
I’ve committed to fearlessly diving into a year of structured learning, dedicating 7 hours a week to personal and professional growth. The first quarter of the year is mapped out with a clear plan:
- January: Life & Mindfulness Coaching – a foundation for understanding holistic growth and balance.
- February: SEND and Understanding Autism Diploma – equipping myself with tools to better support neurodivergent children and adults.
- March: Understanding ADHD Diploma and Child Psychology Diploma – enhancing my expertise in areas that are not only close to my heart but critical for my work.
The SEND and Child Psychology courses, in particular, will help me develop strategies to support children in adopting a journaling practice. By creating tools tailored to their needs, I hope to help young people build resilience, self-awareness, and creativity. This is a new area for me and one I want to explore.
I’ve benchmarked completion dates for each course, allowing flexibility to reassess my pace and plan the following quarter. Whether I overestimate or underestimate my capacity, I’ll adapt fearlessly, ensuring consistent progress.
These goals are about more than fitness—they’re about embodying my guiding word, “fearless,” in every stretch, every punch, and every step forward.
Next Time I will dig into step 2: Maximizing Your Time: Finding Balance Between Chores and Goals – how I get these goals into my days and weeks.
